Postdoctoral Association
The Postdoctoral Association (PDA) has been established to enhance the postdoctoral experience at the Ordway Research Institute and at the Wadsworth Center, New York State Department of Health. The PDA has three primary goals:
- provide career development resources
- establish a sense of community through social and scientific interactions
- serve as a liaison between the postdocs and the Ordway Research Institute – Wadsworth Center faculty and administration to address the needs and interests of the postdoctoral community.
Membership
All individuals engaged in postdoctoral research at Ordway Research Institute or Wadsworth Center, NYS Department of Health, are considered to be members throughout the duration of their appointment. Breakfast Club Seminars
On Tuesday mornings, members of the PDA are invited to attend and participate in the Breakfast Club Seminar Series. Presenters include graduate students and postdocs from the Wadsworth Center and Ordway Research Institute.
The Breakfast Club provides an opportunity to:
- present prior to conferences/meetings as a way to get organized early and receive feedback that may lead to modifications
- present data before or while writing a paper to obtain “reviews” from a captive audience that could save the need for future revisions or rejections
- speak at a time when you are planning a next step in a project and seek input toward analyzing data
- practice a talk for a job interview
For additional information on Breakfast Club Seminars or to schedule a presentation, contact Nilesh Banavali at banavali@wadsworth.org
Please check back frequently for updates and additional information.
